Adagio helped the Ministry of Social Development, UY – SIIAS migrate from a Commercial platform (IBM Cognos) to an Open Source architecture (Pentaho) that permits growth in users and functionalities at lower costs. We also helped improve performance in strategic analytics processes.
A team of 4 people worked at the Ministry of Social Development in UY to help them convert the Social Area’s Integrated System of Information (SIIAS) to meet the needs of the National Direction of Evaluation and Monitoring (DINEM.)
Adagio helped the Ministry convert their Cognos based system to a platform built on free access software. Components included the following:
- Operative System: Linux
- Database: PostgreSQL
- Integration platform: Pentaho Data Integration
- Analytical platform: Pentaho BI
SIIAS is a platform that integrates information from more than a dozen public agencies and provides valuable information that allows the Ministry to best manage social services of the Government.
Adagio also provided user training and assistance in migrating to a cloud-based architecture to make sure the platform would be easy to maintain, support and provide high availability going forward.
By migrating to an Open Source technology platform, the Ministry achieved the following business and technology benefits:
- Unrestricted and free licenses
- Higher availability
- Greater design flexibility
- Better ability to integrate with other actors
- Alignment with Digital Government policy: free software and open standards.
